Company Pulse Check

The Pulse Check tool is a high-level questionnaire for companies that are committed to improving their ESG performance. It is intended to give you a rough idea of where your company may be on its ESG journey. It will take you around ten minutes, stick with it, we are confident you will learn something along the way and it will be a good investment in time.

Each question has four possible answers; choose the one that best reflects your company’s current situation. This is all about the level of ESG risk that your company may face.

We don’t see your scores or have access to your answers, they are for your own use and information.

A “health warning” for those of you that use it: it doesn’t infer any definitive assessment of where you may be exposed or how you may be judged by other bodies such as potential clients or investors. It is intended to give you a sense of how much work you may have to do to achieve “Best in Class” ESG performance. What this all means will be dependent on what type of organization you are, your size, the types of service you offer and where you operate.

For example, a small company that provides IT services to a domestic market may not have direct emissions or discharges, so some of the questions may not be relevant you, in which case you can give yourself the highest mark for these questions. Put simply, if the question is of no relevance to you then that topic is clearly of low risk.

On the other hand, a large manufacturing company importing raw materials from abroad, overseas production facilities and having complex processes that use water, energy and chemicals with complex emissions, discharges and logistics, will have a different and more complex set of challenges. In this case, the Pulse Check may be an over-simplification.

In both cases it will give you a general idea of where you are. For more complex situations there is a more detailed questionnaire that we can provide if you are interested. Contact us for more information on this. Regardless of the outcome, this is a topic worthy of your time and attention. Our desire is to help companies prepare and integrate steps now that will set them up for future success in these important areas.

Often it is the thinking that is generated by the question which is the real value rather than the score itself.

The questions are designed to represent leading indicators, not lagging indicators, so the results relate to whether you have systems in place to manage potential ESG issues.

One important note: in this particular Pulse Check, the governance questions pertain more to the governance of environmental and social issues. If you need more focus on financial and commercial governance, please reach out and we can connect you with those resources.
